Magnetic Bracelets and Arthritis | Magnetic Therapy and Arthritis

It is believed that arthritis is one of the most responsive conditions to magnetic bracelets and magnetic therapies. Magnetic bracelets have been used for centuries as a complimentary therapy for pain relief, and there is increasing acceptance of the benefits of magnetic bracelets, through word of mouth, recommendation, and piloted studies.

In 2001 a study of 64 patients with rheumatoid arthritis of the knee showed that 68% of those who used magnetic therapy reported feeling much better after just one week. In 2004 a study funded by the Arthritis Research Campaign was carried out looking at 194 patients aged 45 -80 with osteoarthritis of the hip or knee. Researchers found that those who wore magnetic bracelets for 12 weeks had a decrease in arthritis associated pain.

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis in the UK with an estimated 8.5 million people affected by the condition. Other common types of arthritis include rheumatoid arthritis and gout. But no matter which type of arthritis it is, magnetic bracelets and magnetic therapy can have a beneficial effect on the arthritis.

What is Osteoarthritis?

Osteoarthritis is a chronic condition and occurs when the cartilage between the bones gradually wears, and the bones begin to rub against each other leading to stiffness, inflammation, loss of movement and painful joints. Although osteoarthritis can occur in any joint, the most frequently affected joints are in the hands, facet joints in the back, hips and knees.

Osteoarthritis often develops in people over 50 years of age. However, it can develop at any age as a result of an injury or another joint related condition. Osteoarthritis often occurs as the cartilage breaks down, or degenerates with age, for this reason osteoarthritis is sometimes called degenerative joint disease.

What is Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Rheumatoid arthritis is a less common but more severe type of arthritis than osteoarthritis. It occurs when the body's immune system attacks itself and destroys the thin membrane that lines the joints, causing pain and swelling in the joint lining to occur. The inflammation then spreads to the surrounding tissues, and can eventually damage cartilage and bone. In more severe cases, rheumatoid arthritis can affect other areas of the body.

What is Gout?

Gout is a painful condition that occurs when the body cannot eliminate a natural substance called uric acid. The excess uric acid forms needle like crystals in the joints which in turn cause swelling and severe pain. Gout most often affects the big toe, knee and wrist joints.

How magnetic bracelets and magnetic therapy work in treatment of arthritis

It is estimated that one in three people will suffer with arthritis at some point in their lives and the use of magnetic bracelets and magnetic therapy plays a positive role in alleviating the debilitating symptoms of arthritis. Magnetic therapy is a natural way to treat arthritis in both humans and animals.  Small high strength magnets are used on the body by the main arteries or as close to the point of pain as possible.

Static magnets penetrate through the skin and deep into the tissues and blood stream, the damaged cells around the inflammation react to the magnetic field by realigning their ions into the correct position and start the process of removing the excess fluid from within the cell.  As the inflammation reduces, the damage caused begins to be repaired by a fresh and rich supply of oxygen and nutrients. Cells start to heal, and tissue regeneration begins.

Magnetic bracelets are not the only form of magnetic therapy, magnets can be applied in many forms. Magnetic supports are useful for getting direct to joint pain and magnetic shoe insoles are ideal for arthritis in the lower limb and ankle regions. Magnetic mattresses, magnetic therapy pads are also used by arthritis sufferers who have arthritis in many parts of the body. Drinking magnetised water helps encourage good health and general wellbeing by improving circulation, increasing absorption of oxygen and nutrients in the blood and assisting natural healing. Obviously it is not only humans that suffer with arthritis, so we have produced the Magno-Vet for animals, like a magnetic bracelet benefits a human the magnet force penetrates through the animals fur and skin and works in exactly the same way.

Natural treatments for healthy joints

Arthritis sufferers have been using complementary therapies for years, these not only include magnetic therapy and magnetic bracelets, but also complementary products like hot and cold heat packs, herbal supplements, joint gels and rubs. Arthritis sufferers want safe non- invasive natural solution that are drug free and have no side effects.

The key to keeping joints in good working order is regular exercise and a healthy diet. Regular exercise helps to keep the supporting muscles and ligaments strong. Eating sensibly and ensuring the body has the correct vitamins and minerals it needs is essential. Important vitamins and minerals can be taken as supplements to help treat arthritis.

Glucosamine, MSM & Chondroitin Tablets (with Vitamin C) are an ideal treatment for arthritis and joint pain. One of the most popular and researched supplements is glucosamine, in the joint glucosamine is a key component of the protein that forms cartilage. It is cartilage that helps to protect the bony surfaces of the joints from rubbing together, friction is what wears away the bone in osteoarthritis. Another substance that gives the cartilage shock absorbing properties is chondroitin sulphate. Glucosamine and chondroitin taken together or separately can help reduce the pain of osteoarthritis and keeps the joints strong. Glucosamine and chondroitin can help to reduce the pain of osteoarthritis and can help to repair damaged joints. Methyl Sulphonyl Methane (MSM) is also an important part of cartilage structure and can be taken in supplement form, it increases permeability of cell membranes which helps the removal of toxins and reduces pressure build up leading to a reduction in pain and inflammation.

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring bio-chemical constituent found in the body and helps to maintain the elasticity and fluidity needed for good joint mobility by stimulating the uptake of water and nutrients into the cartilage. It is a major ingredient in the synovial fluid that cushions and lubricates the joints and in combination with other joint products has been shown to be useful in alleviating arthritic pain.

Devil’s Claw has been used for centuries for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic powers helping to combat arthritis.

There are many natural anti-inflammatory treatments believed to help keep the symptoms of arthritis under control. Glucosamine Muscle & Joint Gel can help eliminate stiff and swollen joints. Many arthritis sufferers find their arthritis pain is reduced by applying heat to the affected joint with a microwavable herbal heat pack or wheat bag. This can help the swelling reduce and relieve pain.
